The Southwest Minnesota State University golf team hosted the Mustang Invite at the Marshall Golf Club throughout the weekend of Saturday, September 21. The Mustangs snagged a third place finish out of the 14-team field with a team score of 653.
Minnesota State claimed the tournament title with a combined team score of a 44-over-par 620. Kayla Sethasompobe of Minnesota State earned the individual title with a 1-over-par 145. Christy Nelson of Upper Iowa earned second place honors, finished just eight shots behind Sethasompobe. Concordia-St. Paul earned the second place slot with a combined team score of 652.
On Sunday, the Mustangs recorded a team score of 326, which was the best of the day for all teams. The Mustangs moved up on spot after earning fourth place on Saturday.
Rachel Patnoe paced the Mustangs on Sunday with a 7-over-par 79. Patnoe finished with a tie for 30th at 166 for the weekend. Marissa Campeau finished with a season-low 79 on Saturday. On Sunday, Campeau finished with an 82, tying for 14th overall. Abby Gruber tied for 22nd with a total score of 164. Dana Wagner recorded total score of 165 to earn 27th place. Becky Koepp tied for 57th with a total score of 178. Megan Will recorded a score of 177 to tie for 52nd place, while Trisha Kienitz tied for 64th place with a score of 182.
