Coach looks forward to 15th SMSU golf season
Women’s golf team at SMSU has been coached for the past 14 seasons by the same man: Ross Webskowski.
Webskowski worked as the assistant men’s basketball coach for four seasons before working as the assistant women’s golf coach for two seasons. Webskowski become the women’s golf head coach in 2004.
In his first season as head coach in 2004-05, Webskowski guided the team to its fifth straight conference title.
In 2005, Webskowski was named the NSIC coach of the year for his role in SMSU winning the NSIC championship a sixth time.
Ross Webskowski wears another hat. He also serves as the associate athletic director for Internal Operations. In his role as the associate athletic director, he manages the athletic departments budget and also helps solve problems for other coaches and members of the athletic department.
“It’s a good mix to be able to do that and do coaching,” Webskowski said. “I just really like to be involved with all the different aspects.”
Webskowski chose a career in coaching to have an impact on the youth and help guide them on their journey to become better people.
Originally from Brandon, Minnesota, Webskowski played sports throughout his life and always knew he wanted to be a coach someday.
He lives in Marshall with his wife, Heather, their daughter Dayton, and son Zander.
