Lower SC has gotten brand new furniture thanks to a donation from Ashley Furniture. The school chose what furniture to get in partnership with students. The chosen furniture was a collection of tables and a sectional.
Jay Lee IV, the dean of students, said, “We wanted to ensure that the furniture was comfortable, and provided a welcoming community feel.” When asked about selection process of the furniture. The closer proximity and openness of the area encourages community.
When the furniture was first put in, some students didn’t like the setup. Lee IV said, “the first setup was one big sectional, with the students help we split the coach into two sections allowing for multiple groups to use the area at the same time and not feel as though they’re invading others space.”
The student foundation is always trying to improve life on campus and this addition has gained a lot of attention and positive feedback with a few suggestions that they say that they are working on.
Lee IV makes the benefit of the new look clear saying, “it’s a fresh look (for campus) and more inviting for students, faculty, staff, visiting students and families.”
The campus identified the desire for change and as Lee IV said, “we hit the mark.”
