SMSU President, Kumara Jayasuriya, has announced he will retire after the May 2025 graduation.
In his message to the campus, he shared his gratitude and pride in what the university has achieved during his time as president.
Under his leadership, SMSU saw its highest enrollment in 14 years, growing by nearly 20%. The university also raised almost $24 million toward a $30 million fundraising goal, started new academic programs, and improved campus buildings.
“This has been an incredible honor,” he wrote. “I’m proud of what we’ve done together.”
President Jayasuriya’s leadership will be celebrated at May’s commencement.
His impact will be felt at SMSU for years to come.
