As we all know, Marshall is a hub of gang activity. From vicious gunfights on suburban streets to drug dealers making enough scratch in a month to pay for a year’s tuition at SMSU, Marshall’s gangs maintain a sizable presence. Like many of the other crime-infested cities in the world, there are two major gangs that have been contributing much of this strife.
The first of these two warring gangs is known as the Black Panthers, named such on account of their lone African American member. His name is Eugene Urkel, and he holds quite a bit of power within the hierarchy of the group.
When asked for comment on the name of the gang, he had this to say: “A lot of gangs take pride in their racial diversity. I think what sets us apart from the other gangs, because I’m pretty sure they’re all made of white high-school kids. By the way, our name isn’t a rip off of the black power group from the sixties. I suggested the name because it’s my favorite Marvel hero.”
Their greatest enemies in the area, determined by a Marshall Independent poll, are probably the Soldiers of Schwans. This group is very loyal to the companies in Marshall, seen as how several high-ranking members have unpaid internships with Schwans. Their headquarters is located behind the ice-skating rink in town, and they conduct meetings there every Tuesday at 7:00 PM, if weather allows.
The Panthers and the Soldiers often clash over territory, although most of their disagreements are centered on drug prices. The Soldiers have used their business skills to stay competitive in the market, and have been referred to as the “Walmart of the drug world.” Oftentimes they will sell high-quality drugs for rock-bottom prices to bring in customers, and then flood the market with the cheap stuff once they’ve earned the trust of the user base, something the Panthers refer to as a “dick move.”
The Panthers, however, have the edge in the Marijuana market, better known as the “pot” market. They have exclusive access to a type known as Pineapple Express, widely considered the highest quality Marijuana in the world. In fact, the Panthers have been trying for years to convince SMSU to put on a free showing of the movie of the same name in order to spread publicity of their drug, but to no avail.
Tensions between the groups have been on the rise lately for a number of reasons. Drug prices, gas prices, and rumors of a secret romance between two members of the rival gangs that threatens to go full-blown “West Side Story.” So remember to stay inside, keep your doors locked, and be on the lookout. Things are getting intense here in Marshall.
