The History Channel airs a ministry called, “The Bible” on Sunday nights. The show rakes in a little over 14 million viewers but there was some controversy sparked during last Sunday’s episode. Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni, an actor for the TV series, played Satan but looked eerily like President Barack Obama. The first “big name” to address the coincidence was Glenn Beck, a well-known conservative media figure, on his twitter account. He wrote, “Anyone else think the Devil in #TheBible Sunday on History Channel looks exactly like That Guy?” Afterward, tons of people starting commenting on the similarities between Ouzanni and Obama.

However, the History Channel denies having anything to do with Ouazanni being cast because he looks similar to our president. “History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History’s ‘The Bible’ is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.” It was later revealed by Glenn Beck via Twitter that Ouazanni had played multiple characters similar to that of Satan and that it was his niche.

The producers of the TV show stated, “Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible.” What do you guys think?
