On March 27, 28, and 29, Women on the Move hosted a Mayaworks fundraiser.
The girls from the group were selling items of jewlery handmade by women from Guatemala. Over 125 indigenous artisans from Guatemala work to make the items for the organization.
Some of the items included animal key-chains, beaded bracelets, tote bags, storage bags, backpacks, silk and cotton scarfs, and hacky-sacs.
Most of the proceeds earned in the fundraiser went back to the Guatemalan women who made the items to improve their standard of living and economic security.
Child education, family nutrition, and doctor visits in Guatemala all get paid for with the profits from Mayaworks products.
The artisans work in safe and healthy working conditions, engaging in environmentally friendly business practices.
