Sam Jeffrey, a Junior at SMSU, shares his musical abilities with ‘Spark I’ his first song, released and available to the public.
Sam Jeffrey answered a few questions about ‘Spark I’ he started at his love for music. Sam said, “My dad initially taught me to play guitar when I was 10, and I have been enthralled with making music ever since.”
Sam Jeffrey said, “I take inspiration from artists and bands who are passionate and genuine about their work.” He also added people from his personal life that are founts of inspiration being his dad, his sister and his friend Kait. Sam said, “They have all given me invaluable perspectives about life that I carry into my lyrics and songwriting in general.”
Sam gave me a voluble response about his writing process and when he said, “I always try to paint a vivid with my music and I thinks that leaves listeners with the opportunity to interpret it from their own perspectives and experiences as well as mine.”
When it comes to the specifics of writing songs, Sam thinks that the process can vary from song to song. Sometimes the lyrics will influence the musicality of the piece and other times it’s the other way around. He said, “It comes down to building off of any inspiration I feel would create an interesting musical experience.”
The creation of ‘Spark I’ happened at his house over. Sam worked with his own equipment and instruments to create the best setup for the recording of this song.
Sam talked more about how special this song was to him as it was the first publicly released work. Leaving the interview with a final thought as he said, “I’m blessed to be able to share my musical artistry with the public and I’m grateful for the chance to do something that I have been passionate about for a long time.”
His song can be found on any streaming service. His social media is provided for more information on him.
