My Christmas break was fantastic; I travelled outside of Marshall to visit my family elsewhere in Minnesota. Having lots of fun catching up on all the activities we missed. Playing lots of board games, card games, and plenty of video games. But most importantly, spending a lot of my time with family, going out, and cooking up lots of food for Christmas. On Christmas Eve, we went to church to sing worship songs and learn why we celebrate Christmas. After that, we all split into groups to buy Christmas gifts for each other and pack them away for the next day, when we open them and guess who bought each gift. After a long day of shopping, we met family members I had not met yet, which was very exciting. It is always good to get to know more family members and see how they are doing. Spending time getting to know each and every family member who was there and participating in a game planned for the evening was frustrating but fun. The game we played was to finish the phrase with numbers and letters. The prize for winning the game was cool rocks like amethyst and others, which we got to look at and take home as souvenirs.
On Christmas day, we opened our gifts, guessed who bought them for us, and watched two NFL football games and a movie. While watching NFL games and movies, we cooked a lot of food: a big 12-pound roast, mashed potatoes, rice, and some Brussels sprouts. Surprisingly, this Christmas I didn’t hear “All I want for Christmas is you” by Mariah Carey, but hey, I’m not complaining. After Christmas, I went bowling with my brother and cousins, got my first-ever strike, and scored more than 100 points for the very first time, which I am happy about. For New Year’s Eve, I watched the Stranger Things season finale with my brother and cousins as we closed out in 2025. Unfortunately, I did not get to watch it in theatres, but after watching the finale, I think going to the theatre was not worth it for me. At last, the new year came, and I went to North Dakota State University to visit my brother and have a look around Fargo North Dakota. As my holiday comes to an end, I’m ready to start my second year at SMSU and learn from my mistakes last year and begin new opportunities.
