Relations between North Korea and South Korea had always been shaky at best after the Korean War. The young new leader of North Korea Kim Jong-Un has made things go from shaky, to a very thin line with his rhetoric.
On Saturday North Korea declared that the standing armistice it had with South Korea is now over and that North Korea has entered a “State-of-War” with South Korea. South Korea has stated that it will strike back quickly if North Korea stages any kind of attack.
What does this have to do with the United States? The United States and South Korea are allies and have been doing Military drills with South Korea. These drills have infuriated North Korea to the point where North Korea is threatening a Nuclear War with the United States.
In the past, there is one thing that the United State had made very clear: if we’re attacked with nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction, the United States will respond with the same. United Stated have already stationed military personal in response to North Korea’s threats.
Russia has urged North Korea and the United States to calm down before the worst happens and reach the point of no return. Russia also expects both sides to take full responsibility for their actions.
China has also asked for restraint. While disapproving of North Korea’s previous nuclear test, China is expected to defend North Korea if the country is attacked.
However, China has also stated that they will not go on the offensive with South Korea.
